Instructions to Authors

The Sri Guru Nanak Dev Education Trust – Journal of Research in Education and Social Sciences (SGNDET-JRESS) welcomes high-quality contributions from scholars, researchers, academicians, and practitioners across the globe. In order to ensure clarity, uniformity, and efficiency in the editorial and publishing process, all prospective authors are requested to carefully follow the detailed instructions below before submitting their manuscripts. Compliance with these guidelines will greatly facilitate the timely processing, review, and publication of submitted work.

 

1. Manuscript Submission

    • Submission Portal: Manuscripts must be submitted exclusively through the Online Manuscript Submission System available on the journal’s official website. Submissions via email will not be entertained unless otherwise announced for special issues.
    • Format: Manuscripts should be prepared in MS Word 2007 or above (.doc or .docx). PDF versions will not be accepted at the initial submission stage.
    • Language: All submissions must be written in clear, academic English. Authors are encouraged to seek professional language editing prior to submission, if necessary.
    • Length: Manuscripts should typically range from 5 to 12 pages including tables, figures, references, and appendices. Exceptions may be made for systematic reviews, meta-analyses, or policy papers with prior editorial approval.
    • Structure: Authors are expected to organize manuscripts under the following broad sections:
      • Title Page
      • Abstract (150–200 words)
      • Keywords (3–8)
      • Introduction
      • Materials and Methods / Methodology
      • Results
      • Discussion
      • Conclusion
      • Acknowledgments (if any)
      • References (APA 7th edition style recommended)

 

2. Originality and Ethical Standards

    • Exclusivity: Submission implies that the work has not been published elsewhere (except in abstract or thesis form) and is not under consideration in another journal.
    • Authorship: All listed authors must have made significant contributions to the research. Ghost or honorary authorship is strictly prohibited.
    • Plagiarism Policy: The journal employs advanced plagiarism detection tools . A similarity index of less than 20% (including references) and less than 5% (excluding references) is mandatory for further consideration.
    • Ethical Approval: For research involving human participants, data and an ethics approval certificate must be provided.

 

3. Review Process

    • Double-Blind Peer Review: The journal follows a rigorous double-blind peer-review system, where both authors and reviewers remain anonymous.
    • Reviewers: Each manuscript will be reviewed by at least two experts in the relevant field.
    • Timeline: The review process typically takes 3–4 weeks, though complex submissions may require longer.
    • Decisions: Based on reviewer recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief may decide to:
      • Accept the manuscript as is.
      • Accept with minor or major revisions.
      • Reject with constructive feedback.

 

4. Manuscript Preparation Guidelines

    • Title: Concise, informative, and not exceeding 20 words. Avoid abbreviations where possible.
    • Author Details: Full names, institutional affiliations, postal addresses, and valid email addresses must be provided. The corresponding author must be clearly indicated.
    • Abstract: A single paragraph (150–200 words), summarizing objectives, methodology, key findings, and implications.
    • Keywords: 3–8 keywords that reflect the essence of the paper for indexing purposes.
    • Figures & Tables:
      • Number consecutively in the order they appear.
      • Captions must be brief but descriptive.
      • Submit high-resolution images (minimum 300 dpi).
    • Mathematical Formulas: Use Microsoft Equation Editor or MathType; number equations sequentially for easy reference.
    • References: Use APA (7th edition) style consistently. Ensure accuracy and completeness of citations.

 

5. Copyright and Licensing

    • Copyright Transfer: Upon acceptance, authors will be required to sign an e-copyright form transferring copyright to SGNDET-JRESS.
    • Creative Commons License: Published articles will be distributed under the CC-BY (Creative Commons Attribution) License, allowing unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction provided appropriate credit is given.
    • Withdrawal Policy: Papers cannot be withdrawn once accepted. If plagiarism or ethical misconduct is detected post-publication, the article will be retracted, and the authors may be barred from submission for one year.

 

6. Publication Fees and Charges

    • Open Access Policy:SGNDET-JRESS is committed to open access. Articles are freely available to readers worldwide.
    • Article Processing Charges (APC):Indian Authors: INR 1000 (includes DOI, e-certificate, and online publication).
    • APC is non-refundable and must be paid after the acceptance of the manuscript.

 

7. Publication Workflow

  1. Submission Acknowledgement – Authors receive a unique manuscript ID.
  2. Initial Screening – Plagiarism check and scope evaluation.
  3. Peer Review – Double-blind review by at least two experts.
  4. Editorial Decision – Accept, revise, or reject.
  5. Final Submission – Camera-ready paper prepared according to reviewer feedback and journal template.
  6. e-Copyright Submission – Authors sign and upload copyright agreement.
  7. Online Publication – The article is assigned a DOI and published on the journal website.
  8. Issue Allocation – Papers are placed into specific volumes/issues at the discretion of the Editorial Board.

 

8. Permissions

If a manuscript includes previously published material (figures, tables, or text passages), the author must provide written permission from the copyright holder. Submissions lacking such permissions will be considered incomplete.
